In jewellery, Marcasite is actually pyrite (iron pyrite) cut and faceted, often with a flat back and triangular facets (rose cut) to maximize its brilliance. It is very popular in vintage, Art Deco, and Victorian-inspired designs, typically set in sterling silver. Marcasite requires gentle cleaning with a soft cloth, avoiding abrasives; store in a dry, soft pouch away from moisture to prevent tarnishing or crumbling.
